Schletter Group’s first-ever sustainability assessment earned a bronze medal from the internationally renowned rating agency, EcoVadis. This rating places the solar mounting system manufacturer among the top 35 percent of metalworking companies assessed in the last twelve months.

“The bronze sustainability rating proves that the path we are on is bearing fruit. It also shows that we are meeting today’s entrepreneurial, environmental, and social challenges head-on,” says Florian Roos, CEO of Schletter Group. “We see the award as recognition of our efforts, which motivates us to keep improving and making sure we live up to our responsibilities. We’re going to continue the pursuit of our ambitious sustainability goals and are setting ourselves a high bar.”

Schletter Group’s sustainability policies were assessed according to 21 indicators related to the environment, ethics, labor and human rights, and sustainable procurement. EcoVadis, a rating agency active in more than 200 industries around the world, bases its assessment methodology on internationally recognized sustainability standards such as the UN Global Compact and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines.

Particularly notable were Schletter Group’s scores in the Environment and Labor & Human Rights categories, which were well above average.

“As a metalworking company, we’re especially happy with these ratings,” Roos adds. The metalworking industry, after all, is one with particularly stringent requirements related to resource management and emissions, thus making these ratings quite remarkable. “Our EcoVadis score makes our sustainability activities more visible for our employees, customers, and suppliers alike. It’s also a great tool we can use to assess the effectiveness of our strategies and measures in a targeted manner.”

The 2023 fiscal year saw Schletter Group publish its very first sustainability report, in which, alongside its current initiatives, the company listed a variety of measures it plans to pursue to reduce its carbon footprint even further in the coming years. By the end of 2024, for instance, more than 95 percent of Schletter products will be made from recyclable materials. By the end of 2025, the company is also aiming to hit a 50 percent recycling rate for the raw materials in its products—primarily steel, aluminum, and plastic. Furthermore, all in-house administrative workstations will be powered exclusively by renewable energy by the end of 2028.

Sustainability will also be at the heart of Schletter’s presence at the world’s premier industry trade fair, Intersolar, which is set to kick off in Munich on June 19th.
